Basin Sports Pico Snow Report- Abundant fresh snow with very light crowds
The overnight forecast called for an inch or two overnight. You can just imagine the delightful surprise that met us this morning when we realized that actually 5″ of the lightest blower powder had fallen.
I’ve been down this road before and now I’ve learned. When there is just a few inches comprising a sleeper pow day, there is only one place to go and that’s Pico. There was very light crowds to start the day. My first runs were of the Little Pico Triple where there wasn’t many tracks. B Slope to A Slope or B to Exhibition. After a few of those I moved on.
Next up was the Golden Express to the Outpost area where after a five minute hike there was again plenty of undisturbed fresh snow to be found. I bagged three runs on Bronco and the only tracks I crossed where my own. My last run I got even more adventurous and hiked up Quick Draw to get some of the terrain off the Knomes Knoll Triple.
Judging by the lift maintenance work going around there today that both the Outpost double and Knomes Knoll will spin tomorrow making that terrain and powder turns more accessible.
Have fun out there this weekend and dress warm as it’s going to be chilly both Saturday and especially Sunday
Sunshine, no wind and mid teens is what skiers/riders experienced today at Killington.
Killington Snow Report, Christine and I got to skip out for a few runs mid day. There is so much snow on the trails and in the woods. We have been blessed with lots of snow over the past month and the trail conditions are proof. The stockpiling of snow continues on the Superstar pod for a long season at the Beast. The snow guns were blanketing Bittersweet with nice soft snow. The mounds of snow on Skyelark were fun to ski over and Superstar was groomed. I talked with a few people and they only said good things about the snow conditions. Every trail we skied off the Superstar chair, K1 Gondola, North Ridge Triple and Snowden Quad were unbelievable. If you have NOT made your plans yet to get up here to ski/ride Killington you NEED to do now. There is more snow forecasted to hit our region on Thursday. The sale has started at the Basin. All 2015 jackets and pants are 20% off. Gloves, goggles and helmets are 20% off as well. I will add some pictures in a bit. Lorraine

Killington Snow Report Cloudy and temps in the high 40s was the weather for our ski day today. Superstar is top to bottom and skiing very nice after a short hiatus Monday thru Thursday. There is still continuous skiing on Skyelark to Bittersweet. The Skyehawk headwall skied very nice today. A cool spring has left us with plenty of snow. If mother nature cooperates we should still be skiing/riding for another couple weeks anyway. Looking up at Cascade, Downdraft and East Fall there is even snow left. Happy mother’s day to all you moms out there. I know I will be going to brunch, skiing and hiking on my special day.

Killington Snow Report , Today was an interesting day, great spring corn snow and comfortable temperatures around 50. The part that made it interesting was one sunny run, the next run sprinkles, next run sunny, the run after that a little hail and so on – get the picture. Every time I thought about leaving the sun came back out it was a real teaser. The best news is the cover on Super Star, Upper Skylarke and Lower Bittersweet is exceptional. Skyhawk, Lower Skylarke and Upper Bittersweet are still real nice skiing but each has one narrow section. If you are up for a walk to and a walk out of Cascade, Down Draft and East Fall they have full coverage and the most I have ever seen at this time of the year. What a shame the run has a fairly long walking section. I tried to post a picture looking up Superstar but I could not figure out the sizing. Sorry! There is lots of snow from top to bottom.
Killington Snow Report, A powder day — well sort of Killington received some new snow last night following a day of a more liquefied precipitation. Wherever Killington groomed, which was only off the Super Star chair, was nice winter like skiing. On none groomed runs where the snow blew in there was some real powder to be skied but you needed to beware and in other places there was just firm snow.
The good part of this will be the next above freezing day we will have perfect corn snow. Whenever you have some rain then a hard freeze like last night it makes for great spring corn snow. Today was sunny in the 20’s so you either skied the groomed trails or found pockets of powder like Highline Race trail. It looks like seasonally warm above freezing temperatures the rest of the week. So put on the sunblock and get ready to ski some really nice spring corn snow.
We’re always on sale to so check our online store for deals!
Killington Snow Report, Today was a rarer day then a good powder day it was 40 degrees and a sunny day with excellent corn snow. Even better then that is the fact that it froze last night and Killington groomed most all the steeps, so now you had almost perfect smooth corn snow. Hero turns everywhere today just plain fun. Hard to tell what was my favorite trail between Ovation, Cascade, Down Draft or Dipper they all were so good. I even ventured onto a wonderfully soft, bumped up North Star. Yes spring has sprung even if it is for one day, There is a possibility tomorrow may turn into a powder day. I was wondering where all the people were because the slopes were not crowded — at the umbrella bars! I will put up a picture in a while.
Our Online store is always having great sales on product. From Skis to Snowboards To Bikes To Summer Casualwear, there’s probably something you’ll find and go ohhh I really want that!
Killington Snow Report with Christine and Maggie and their dogs made the most of Daylight Savings Time yesterday by skinning up Pico in the warm March afternoon sunshine. This was after they skied Killington earlier in the day. The snow is still amazing all around and definitely worth a visit if you’re heading up this way. Trails like A Slope and B Slope on Pico were skiing well but The Superstar headwall and Skyelark were also a ton of fun. Keep an eye out on the forecast as well it looks like we could be receiving some goodies in the future which we’d be more than happy to accept. Check the Killington Resort event calendar too. More events on the way as well. Way to get after it girls!
Killington Snow Report produced a super fun day on the hill. Everyone was basking in the glow of sunshine and loving the seasonally warm temps. You could tell from the beginning that it was going to be a great day. Cold and crisp to start things, but warmed up quickly as the sun rose in the sky. The 3-5″ that fell yesterday also kept things soft. Best snow I found was skiers right on Needles Eye where there was plenty of fresh tracks to be had. Sorry, no pics as I forgot my phone in the car and I was already on the gondi before I realized so. I’m headed to Sugarbush tomorrow morning and will report about that later in the day.
