Killington Snow Report Tuesday Feb 25

Killington Snow Report
OL serving up some sweet afternoon laps today

I was somewhat on the fence about heading our for that last angry hour this afternoon, especially when I saw Amy Smedley from the Boots Dept saying that it was super cold and windy, but I’m glad I headed out. It had snowed an inch or two throughout the day and it stuck well to the existing snow surface. OL skied like a dream. It wasn’t groomed last night and that small snowfall bonded well with that day old non-groomed stubble giving it a super nice ski surface. I choose to spend my short amount of time skiing the goodness on OL, but Superstar was serving up something sweet too. Cold, dry guns were blanketing the lower part, primarily between towers 6 and 4. Even though the light was flat by that late in the afternoon, the skiing was still top notch. Then that was it, 4:00 and five runs came too soon today. Fortunately, there’s tomorrow to look forward to.

Killington Snow Report Wednesday Feb 19

Not a single track down Skyehawk yet at 8:15
Not a single track down Skyehawk yet at 8:15

And yet another powder day! 6-8″ total between yesterday and last night. Overcast skies and 22* at 8:10 am

I got up and at ’em early today as pow waits for no one and I was not disappointed. First run was a barely touched Superstar and if you stuck to the sides where it wasn’t groomed there were fresh tracks to be found the whole way. After that was a Skyehawk (I was the first track down it)>Needles which was fantastic. After that I got adventurous and from the Skyeship headed over to the South Ridge area which is always a good bet. There were TONS of fresh lines on Pipe Dream and the Falls Brook Trail was groomed which made it easy to get back to Bear. From there it was a few off the Neddles Eye pod including some woods stuff before finishing things out on Bittersweet and Superstar.

Today was a phenomenal day at the Beast. It was serving up a little bit of everything. Whether it was powder, perfect corduroy or moguls, it was all there today. Oh yeah, it’s snowing again too!

Killington Snow Report Afternoon Pow Tuesday Feb 18

Killington Snow Report Offers Up So Seriously Sweet Pow Turns

Killington Snow Report starts with the fact that it’s snowing moderate to heavy, 20* and windy with 4-6″ down at 2:30. It snowed hard in Killington from 9 till about 10:30 then snow showers until around 2:15 then started snowing hard again. I managed to sneak out for the last 1 1/4 hrs today and managed seven runs. Since I was limited in time I stuck to the main fast lifts and trails and since it was dumping and blowing in so well everything skied just divinely. Best snow I found was way skiers right on Needles Eye and Superstar away from the snow guns. What a treat this late afternoon storm was! Lifts open at 8 tomorrow and the rest of the week.  Be there or be square!

Killington Snow Report President’s Day Monday Feb 17

The Superstar Glacier is growing!

Killington Snow Report  President’s Day Monday Feb 17

Cold, Windy on the Killington Basin side, yet calm on the Bear side, complete Bluebird and 9* at 9 am.

Killington Snow Report, Hello and welcome to the new layout of basinski.com! Bear with us as we transition from the old layout to this new one. If you see a discrepancy on the site, please email me at jonathan@basinshopping.com and I will alert our crack development team.

I judge you all had a good ski weekend, no? I mean everything was perfect except for maybe how spanked your legs left by Sunday afternoon. Today was another great day out there. Smooth and crisp groomers this morning. I skied a couple on Superstar which is increasing in size with all the snowmaking activities as of late and a few over at Bear. Bear skied very well with perfect machined groomed conditions. After an hour or so of fun, it was time to trade one office, that being the sunny slopes of Killington for another.

Have fun out there today if you’re lucky enough to have the day off and be here.

Killington Snow report Thursday Jan 9

Killington Snow report Thursday Jan 9

Mostly Sunny, some breeze and 13* at 11am.

Killington Snow report, What a gorgeous day out there! Sun, corduroy, temps in the teens and lots of terrain. Since I hadn’t been out since Sunday, my plan today was to ski around and see how the recovery efforts have progressed. That plan was quickly shot down after my first run as I saw Ovation going up the K1.

First run was Lower East Glade to the shuffle to G. Northern as Racers Edge was closed to a beautiful Highline. After that it was six runs down Lower Ovation alternating between Ovation Headwall, which had guns on it or Superstar to Ovation. Superstar Headwall could of used some more tiller time overnight or more skier traffic as there were quite a a few ball bearings on it that needed to be broken up, but besides that it was fine. Lower Ovation was pretty spectacular. Fresh blown snow that was groomed out. It was hardpact, but not a bit of ice on it. Which is where I found my own private piece of paradise this morning and didn’t look any further for something better. Complete fun!

Killington Snow Report Wednesday Dec 11

Killington Snow Report Calm wind, light wind, snow flurries and 22* at 10am

Killington Snow Report, Great day on the hill today! Lots of  Basin Staff out there too as today was the first Ski Bum Race- aka  World Cup Wednesday. Some excellent snow and as usual some terrain skied better than other. Things were a bit hard and slick for my liking up in the North Ridge and Lower East fall; which didn’t warrant a repeat. I was with some friends who wanted to do a Snowdon run, which had excellent snow. Just not my particular first choice when I only have a 90 minutes to play. Nonetheless, the snow was great! Soft groomers on Mouse Run, Mouse Trap and Lower Bunny.

I headed over to Superstar for the last two runs of the day which had the best snow. My buddy’s that I was riding with didn’t want to deal with the snowguns on L Superstar and the lift, but it was worth it as there was some really nice snow under those guns.

On the horizon, we have a quick system moving through tonight that’s forecasted to drop 2-4 by morning and all eyes are peeled for this weekends event. Fingers crossed and snow dances have commenced!!

Sorry for the absence of pics today, we were moving around the hill pretty quickly this morning and didn’t stop for pics.
